I need suggestions for the initial settings for a WS HD project w/video and PhotoShop stills using Final Cut Pro. The boss wants to rent a movie theatre and use my projects on the widescreen. He wants high quality output, but I'm not sure what settings I should begin with to achieve this. I have a good understanding of the basics of editing in FCP.

Thanks to both of you. As you can see, I'm new to this, but I am a fast learner. The projects I am creating are for instructional purposes. I have captured the video footage via Camtasia 7. Some of the clips are recordings of my computer screen as I perform the keystrokes and mouse activity, and some of them are recordings of PowerPoint slideshows (also via Camtasia). We also have access to a Flip video recorder and a Cannon DV camcorder, although so far I haven't used them. In addition, I need to include still shots via PhotoShop. With all of these options, I need a little direction.

Before you start any project, you really need to know what is going to be used to play the video. Contact the theater to see what form/medium you will need to deliver that will be compatible with their display system. Once you know that, you'll know which way to edit and export.

Well, the theatre thing might be a pipedream - the boss is a big talker! The reality is, we are currently outputting to QT and playing on a MacBook Pro via a Panasonic LCD video projector. Nonetheless, he wants HD widescreen with clean stills. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

So it sounds as if you do want a file-based playback, so what Andy advised if good. But keep in mind that if the pipedream of theatrical projection should come true, you may need to output a different version for them.
